Does Google see your blog?
How many of your posts does Google have indexed in it's database?
Here's how you tell.
1) Go to GOOGLE.COM
2) In the search box type: site:yourblogaddresshere
3) To use my blog as an example, site:weddingbiz.blogspot.com
4) Look at the search engine results page and you'll see all of the pages Google has indexed.
5) Indexed is different from "top ranked" but getting "IN" is the first step.
6) Google has a BLOG directory in addition to it's main index/directory...

Should You Be Blogging?
Heard this past week at Search Engine Strategies in San Jose:
"77% of adults think that blogs are a good way to get information about a company or product."
Rev. Claire Goodman has the right idea at her newly published blog promoting weddings in Virginia.
One word for Claire: PERFECT !!!
From my just published report: "25 Point Internet Marketing Checklist"
#21. Blogging
Having a Blog is smart online marketing.
While your website will be more of a “static” online brochure, blogs are basically an online diary and very effective at communicating personality, professionalism, and fresh information.
Use blogging to talk about recent customers, new employees, new products or services, associations or professional training – or just about anything else.
Blogging increases your overall online visibility and should be part of an overall search engine optimization strategy. Don’t forget to link to your website! It will help you build traffic and usually counts towards your total “inbound link” count.
Should you be blogging?

Blogging Is Not The Magic Bullet
To Top Search Engine Positions
Blogging is certainly the "buzz" these days but here's something that sort of puts it all in perspective, at least related to search engine optimization and online visibility, in general.
You never see a blog top ranked for ANY competitive keyword/phrase.
Try it, you'll see.
Can you find blogs? Sure. Is your blog being indexed and in the pile of search engine results pages? Absolutely.
But does your blog have a chance at being top ranked for a competitive term like:
Orlando Wedding Ministers
Probably not and REALLY unlikely at Google (MSN and Yahoo! seem to be more blog friendly - at this writing).
The challenge is that websites and blogs are two different things. As much as the line seems to be blurring, they are two different creatures. And today, websites are being given more "weight" in the SERPS.
Blogs are still very valuable and increase your overall online exposure, are great tools to build backward links, and allow you to easily update/edit news and information about your business without a webmaster/programmer.
