Great Example of Blogging

Marketing to brides online using blogging is smart and more and more Wedding Professionals are figuring out that blogging works. I've been telling my Book More Weddings ADVANTAGE members to do it for over a year now. Those that started early in 2007 are seeing the rewards from their efforts.

When I find good examples of blogs being used for marketing to brides online I'll let you know. Often, people get hung up or overwhelmed when thinking about starting a blog. Trust me, it's pretty easy, it's straight-forward, it doesn't require a webmaster, and it's free (if you don't count the time and effort you put into it - which WILL return a solid ROI).

Today, "Hats Off" to Kristi Richardson at Bloomed to Last.

Kristi has almost 10 years of floral designing experience, a retail background, and is a Professional Bridal Consultant. I get her email newsletter and she's recently launched a blog to help her clients, brides and grooms, with their wedding planning.

Online Mistakes: Part 1

Common Online Marketing Mistakes

1) Waiting For Things To Get Better By Themselves

This is the number one problem for people who are NOT getting the results they want from their website - waiting and thinking things will get better.

They don't.

Actually, they'll get worse.

In the online world MONEY is second to TIME. You can't make up time on the Internet and I believe that for every one day you "wait" you actually fall behind by TWO days. Why? Because (1) your competition gets ahead of you by one more day, (2) new competition comes online and further dilutes the marketplace and your visibility/position, (3) it is taking twice as long to get results at Google as it has in the past - what once took a few months is now taking up to year (or more!).

2) Misconceptions Related to Search Engines & Search Engine Optimization

Make NO MISTAKE, when your website is top ranked for your keywords/phrases you have a strategic and significant advantage over your competition. If you've ever listened in on my tele-clinics or heard me speak at a conference, you've heard me say a top ranked website at Google is "like having a money tree in your back yard."

In most cases, you don't have the expertise to get a top ranked position at Google (by yourself, or without the proper guidance and coaching). Adjusting a few meta-tags isn't going to do anything for your website at Google - trust me!

3) Thinking Long Term

You have to think of your online marketing strategey as a long-term plan. To get the results you want, and achieve the success you want, you'll have to have a comprehensive online marketing strategy for marketing to brides that includes:

Design (website design)
Site Content (marketing message)
Conversion (turning visitors into inquiries/sales)
Traffic Building
Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Marketing
Advanced Online Marketing (email, blogging, etc.)
Integration of Offline/Online

Food for thought on a cold and now snowing day in Boston.

How important are your page title tags and why does it matter? Here is first hand proof that shows you that your page title tag is the key to top positions. Get More Brides To Make Inquiries From Your Website

What is the difference between one person who calls me and says "We get great results from our website, sometimes we get five to six inquiries a day" and the person who calls and says "I haven't got an inquiry in weeks."

Do This One Thing (and You'll Book More Weddings)

If you do just this ONE THING you'll book more weddings:

FOLLOW-UP ON ALL YOUR WEBSITE INQUIRIES BY PHONE

Forget email follow-ups. They're useless and 99% of the time ineffective.

The person who picks up the phone and calls a bride who took the time to make an online inquiry will book more weddings than a competitor who uses email to follow-up.

Add to this:

FOLLOW-UP THE SAME DAY OR WITHIN MINUTES OF RECEIVING THE INQUIRY

And you'll get even better results.

Keep in mind, it's pretty unlikely that a bride only made an inquiry at your website. In most cases, a bride looking for local services will probably have found four to six of your competitors. More if they don't like the websites they've seen.

If they find your website first, like what they see, you've effectively delivered a WIIFM message (what's in it for me) and a UVP (unique value proposition), make an inquiry, and you promptly follow-up BY PHONE...

You'll get more appointments and book more weddings.

Don't expect you're website to do everything for you. That's simply bad thinking.
